New Medical Technology Funds Enable Expansion of Measurement Capabilities

Thanks to funding from the State of Hesse, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT) was able to provide us nearly €40,000 for new research equipment.
With this support, the Measurement and Sensor Technology Group acquired two HEX 32 reference force sensors and an Ultium EMG system – an important investment for future research activities and experiments involving human participants.

3D-printed robot HELENE is now open source

The low-cost robotic arm HELENE, developed in the measurement and sensor technology group, has been used in research and teaching for several years. Now, all data for replication has been published, accompanied by two scientific publications.

On July 18, 2025, Carol Derla and Heime Jonkers from the University of Twente shared their latest research on additive manufacturing of functional sensors with students and members of the LokoAssist project.

The Measurement and Sensor Technology Group participated in the AMAM/LokoAssist Conference in Darmstadt from July 7 to 11, 2025.
As part of the international AMAM25 Conference (Adaptive Motion in Animals and Machines), held from July 7 to 11, 2025 at TU Darmstadt, the Measurement and Sensor Technology Group was represented twice by Mark Suppelt – with a scientific poster and a presentation during the LokoAssist Workshop.
