For a thesis, send us an email outlining your initial idea and areas of interest, and attach a current transcript of grades.

| Serious Games Lab |
Practical implementation of a given topic in groups of 3–5 students, including project documentation, code submission, and a final presentation. Basic programming skills are preferred; students are expected to familiarize themselves with the necessary technologies during the semester. |

Serious games are games that, in addition to their entertainment value, pursue another objective: the Characterizing Goal. This can be a learning objective, sports, health, data generation, and much more.
The Serious Games Research Group offers various courses, none of which are prerequisites for the others.
The lecture provides a concise overview and introduction to the topic of serious games. It is particularly well-suited as a starting point.
For those with a practical interest, the lab and project seminar (formerly project lab) are suitable to take concurrently or subsequently; for those with a theoretical interest, the seminar is recommended.
Many of our theses are proactively initiated by our students after they have attended one or more courses and wish to explore the topic in greater depth.
Depending on the curriculum, a research project may be possible; within this project it offers various opportunities to explore topics that do not otherwise fit into the curriculum.
Those who wish to assist with the lecture through tutoring or help prepare for courses will find that Application in Teaching is a good fit for them.
