Our Serious Games Research Group at the Unite! Research School in Grenoble – Focus on Games for Health
2025/11/14
From November 3–7, 2025, our research group took part in the Unite! Research School held in Grenoble. The event brought together students, doctoral candidates, and faculty members from the partner universities of the Unite! network to exchange ideas on research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This year, our group participated in the “Games for Health” track.
Throughout the week, participants experienced a diverse program including engaging workshops on various topics, industry meetings, and a Use Case Study that emphasized the practical transfer between research and application.
Within the Games for Health track, more than 30 students from eleven European universities collaborated on new concepts and prototypes for serious games in health-related contexts. During the Use Case Study, four international teams were formed to develop their own game ideas under the shared theme “Game for Health.”
Over the course of the week, many exciting demos emerged – ranging from interactive movement games to concepts promoting mental health and motivation. The game “Back in the Game” impressed the jury the most and won the Use Case Study. An Honourable Mention was awarded to “Clumsy”, which also stood out for its creative idea and excellent implementation.
Both the Research School and the Use Case Study offered numerous opportunities for networking and exchange with international students from various disciplines. In addition to the academic content, the focus was particularly on interdisciplinary dialogue – a central idea of the Unite! alliance.
We would like to thank the organizers and all participants for an inspiring week in Grenoble and look forward to building on the ideas and connections that emerged during the event in future projects.
