Innovative concepts and ideas are created through basic research. In order for these to be realized, it is important to have support at one's side, especially at the beginning. The Control Methods and Intelligent Systems Laboratory encourages innovative ideas from its graduates and provides active support.
Zenules
Zenules was founded in 2025 by Thomas Schmitt and Jens Engel and helps companies master the energy transition. Zenules models, simulates, and optimizes energy systems to find the optimal investment for the customer. All technologies are covered—whether photovoltaics, wind power, battery storage, hydrogen, heat pumps, or electromobility. Using AI, Zenules not only optimizes the “best case” scenario, but also develops a robust solution for an uncertain future. More information:
Caliberation
Caliberation was founded in 2020 by Raúl Acuña, Víctor Jiménez, Nicolai Schweizer and Robin Ziegler. Caliberation offers a simple and robust metric camera calibration service which unfolds new possibilities in environmental measurement and image processing.

Wingcopter
Wingcopter was founded in 2017 by Tom Plümmer, Jonathan Hesselbarth and Ansgar Kadura. It develops long-range Wingcopter drones for the rapid transport of medical products, packages or food. More information:
