On Friday, February 2, 2024, the graduates of the winter semester 2023/24 of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology were bid farewell in a ceremony. After graduating, they are now embarking on their Master's degree, are on their way to their doctorate or directly into the business world.

The day of the graduation ceremony started punctually at 2 p.m. with a musical prelude by Alex Litau. With opening remarks by the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Florian Steinke and the subsequent welcome by Vice President for Studies and Teaching and Diversity at TU Darmstadt Prof. Dr. Heribert Warzecha, the event began in front of a packed hall in the Maschinenhaus.

This was followed by a speech by the Dean of the Faculty, in which he not only looked back on his time as a student, but also looked to the future: the newly graduated engineers can expect the best opportunities for the future – as well as social responsibility. His final wish for the graduates: to remain authentic and true to themselves in the new phase of their lives.

In his speech, Dr. Marco Münchhof, himself a graduate of etit and now a member of the Executive Board of Eckelmann AG, encouraged people to try things out in their professional lives. This is the only way to really find out whether something really suits you. He passed on the best advice he ever received to the young engineers: “Don't ask, do it!”.

This time, the Best Student Awards presented by Eckelmann AG went to Jad Haidamous for his Bachelor's degree and Carsten Kleber for his Master's degree. The latter gave a short acceptance speech immediately afterwards, in which he shed light on studying at etit from the students' perspective.

The Friedrich Dessauer Foundation Prize, awarded by VDE Rhein-Main e.V. for outstanding theses, went to Simon Rainer Reis for his Bachelor's thesis and to Boy Maier for his Master's thesis.

The traditional highlight of the event was once again the presentation of graduation certificates, during which the Dean personally congratulated all graduates present. In total, more than 220 students completed their Bachelor's or Master's degree at etit this semester, with around 20 percent even achieving a very good grade.Around 100 of the graduates attended the ceremony with their friends and family.

At the final get-together with a champagne reception, everyone once again took the opportunity to talk about their time at TU Darmstadt and their future plans in a cheerful atmosphere.
