2023/08/31 by Michaela Hütig
The Laboratory of Electrical Energy Supply using Renewable Energies (E5) is participating in a large-scale project to expand research for the energy transition.
Researchers from seven universities in Germany are working on the of the Dortmund transmission grid operator Amprion, which will be funded with a total of ten million euros over a ten-year period. The “Future Transmission Lab” (FTL) is responsible for the technical aspects of the grid and is investigating how various factors influence the stability of three-phase grids. Recommendations for effective grid expansion are to emerge from this. E5 laboratory
The head of the laboratory, Professor Jutta Hanson, is also a member of the FTL's scientific steering committee, which is intended to strengthen the interdisciplinary dialogue. The spectrum of research areas involved in the project ranges from environmental law to energy systems and markets to artificial intelligence, spatial planning and resource economics. In addition to Darmstadt, the universities of Trier, Stuttgart, Augsburg, Osnabrück, Saarbrücken and Bochum are involved.
