As part of the Emmy Noether Program, Dr. rer.nat. Tatiana Tatarenko is establishing a new working group at the Department of Control Methods and Intelligent Systems. We are therefore looking for a new team member as a research assistant in the field of real-time solutions for energy management in smart grids.

This project is within a new research group at the Control Methods and Intelligent Systems lab, which is a part of the DFG Emmy Noether Program. The focus is on the development of efficient algorithms that solve real-time decision-making problems arising in energy management of Smart Grid. Powerful theoretical tools should designed to analyze realistic scenarios in modern power systems by taking into account their technological features. Achieving this goal should enable improvement in operation of energy systems in terms of cost efficiency and stability. The successful candidate will deal with a realistic representation of modern Smart Grid. Appropriate game-theoretic optimization algorithms should leverage information settings in the system and take into account time-invariant problem nature to address complex real-time decision-making problems faced by strategic agents in the energy system under consideration.

Publications in international top venues are desired. Support of teaching and other lab duties is expected.

Requirements:

  • Excellent University Degree (M.Sc. /Diploma) in engineering, mathematics, computer or natural sciences
  • Interested in the topic of energy management in Smart Grid
  • Advanced programming experience (e.g. C,C++, Matlab, Python)
  • Previous knowledge in game-theoretic optimization is advantageous, but can also be learned during the project
  • Very good English is a must, German language skills are beneficial
  • Independent working style, initiative and ability to work in a team

Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.

Technical University of Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Part-time employment is generally possible.
