Welcome to the website of the research group of Medical Engineering.
Currently, only a small amount of a drug reaches the area where the disease is actually located. The rest is distributed throughout the body, often causing serious side effects. Our goal is to make therapies more effective and less invasive. To this end, we aim to deliver drugs directly to the site of the disease. We are developing micro- and nanorobots that can be controlled using magnetic fields inside the body, as well as magnetic nanoparticles for hyperthermia and targeted drug release. Additionally, we are working on magnetic particle imaging, which enables the visualisation of nanoparticles in real time without exposing patients to radiation. Our highly interdisciplinary research combines engineering, materials science, biology, medicine, physics and electrical engineering to develop new approaches for future medical engineering.
