Research

My research focuses on structurally integrated force and torque sensors for medical robotics and plant construction applications. My special interest is evaluating disruptive manufacturing methods based on additive manufacturing processes (Laser-based Powder-Bed-Fusion) for these structurally integrated sensors. The specific research topics are:

  • Miniaturized force sensors for medical applications,
  • Multiphysic modeling,
  • Steerable guidewires for cardiac catheterization,
  • Disruptive manufacturing of force and torque sensors.

Short Biography

Romal Chadda received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Technische Universität Darmstadt, in 2014 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Technische Universität Darmstadt, in 2017. Since 2017, he has been a Research Associate with the Measurement and Sensor Technology Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt. His research interests include the design of structurally integrated mechanical sensors as well as robotics in medical applications.
