The long-standing collaboration between the Technical University of Darmstadt and Tongji University in Shanghai, which began with a cooperation agreement in 1980, spans across various departments of TU Darmstadt. This partnership covers all stages of academic careers, from students to early-career researchers and professors.

This year’s visit was in conjunction with the “2024 International Workshop on Theory and Application of Flexible Electret Materials,” which focused on academic exchanges about the latest research publications. The MUST group, along with Prof. Heinz von Seggern and Sergey Zhukov, contributed with technical presentations on functional materials. MimoSense, a recent spin-off company funded by the EXIST program, also presented its latest innovations, with two of its founders having completed their PhDs within the MUST group.

Beyond the scientific discussions, several wonderful leisure activities were organized, including a boat tour and traditional dining experiences in Shanghai, which were greatly appreciated by all participants. We are also thankful for the lab tour led by Prof. Yuzhi Shi and for the delicious meals we were invited to during our stay.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the excellent organization and preparation of this workshop, and we look forward to future visits, both here at TU Darmstadt and at Tongji University in Shanghai.
