  • Open PhD Position for Uncovering Logic Reasoning of Neural Networks from Hardware Perspective

Open PhD Position for Uncovering Logic Reasoning of Neural Networks from Hardware Perspective

Expected starting date: Feb 01, 2026 – Jan 31, 2029
Duration: 3 years with a possible extension
Tasks:
  • This new PhD position aims to explore logic reasoning of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks. Concrete topics of this position can include but not limited to:
    • Conversion of neural networks into logic circuits.
    • Extraction of the high-level expressions of neural networks from their low-level circuits.
    • Exploration of high-level expressions of neural networks to analyze properties of neural networks, e.g., reliability and fairness.
  • Appropriate participation in administrative tasks, in teaching courses, and in supervising student work is expected.

Requirements:
  • A completed master degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other related disciplines
  • The final grade should not be worse than “Good”
  • Detailed knowledge of digital designs, and proficiency in C, Python, VHDL/Verilog programming languages
  • A good understanding of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks, or is strongly interested in exploring AI algorithms, and a good understanding of digital logic circuits

Open PhD Position for Hybrid Hardware for Analog In-Memory-Computing and Digital Designs for AI

Expected starting date: Jan 01, 2026 – Dec 31, 2028
Duration: 3 years with a possible extension
Tasks:

  • This new PhD position aims to explore the design of hybrid hardware for AI. Concrete topics of this position can include but not limited to:
    • Robustness and reliability enhancement of RRAM-based analog in-memory-computing platform
    • Reprogramming-free methodologies for RRAM-based designs
    • Task Partition for hybrid analog and digital designs for AI
  • Appropriate participation in administrative tasks, in teaching courses, and in supervising student work is expected.

Requirements:
  • A completed master degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other related disciplines
  • The final grade should not be worse than “Good”.
  • Detailed knowledge of FPGAs, and proficiency in C, Python, VHDL/Verilog programming languages.
  • A good understanding of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks, or is strongly interested in exploring AI algorithms

Open PhD Position for High-Performance and Low-Power Digital Hardware Accelerators for AI

Expected starting date: Jan 01, 2026 – Dec 31, 2028
Duration: 3 years with a possible extension
Tasks:

  • This new PhD position aims to explore the timing and power for digital hardware accelerators for AI. Concrete topics of this position can include but not limited to:
    • Evaluation of timing performance and power consumption in each fundamental building block in digital hardware accelerator, e.g., systolic array in TPU, for AI
    • Exploration of the evaluation results above to enhance timing performance and reduce power consumption of hardware for AI
    • Validation on FPGAs
  • Appropriate participation in administrative tasks, in teaching courses, and in supervising student work is expected.

Requirements:
  • A completed master degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other related disciplines
  • The final grade should not be worse than “Good”.
  • Detailed knowledge of FPGAs, and proficiency in C, Python, VHDL/Verilog programming languages.
  • A good understanding of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks, or is strongly interested in exploring AI algorithms, and a good understanding of digital circuits.
