It is generally recognised that diversity and equality are not only beneficial, but also essential for our modern, western world. How does a traditionally male-dominated subject like electrical engineering deal with this? How can we get more women interested in this forward-looking field? From interviews with successful women in electrical engineering, reports from special events to book recommendations – the new podcast from the etit equal opportunities team provides an insight into a long overdue rethink. Just listen in!
Jutta Hanson is a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Darmstadt. She is head of the Lab and a senator in the Helmholtz Association (Germany's largest research organisation) for the research field Energy. Electrical Power Systems with Integration of Renewable Energies (E5)
In this episode, Laura and Maria talk to Professor Jutta Hanson about her career, how she discovered her fascination for electrical engineering and in particular about her experiences as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, about diversity and equality and about the question of how to get more female students and researchers interested in electrical engineering.
