Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is a scientific/engineering discipline which is concerned with research and applications in engineering science involving electricity and all concomitant physical phenomena. It investigates both the conversion of primary energy into electrical energy as well as its transmission and distribution. The conversion of electrical energy, particularly into mechanical and thermal energy, is just as much a part of this field of study as are the transmission, routing and processing of messages and information.

The Bachelor’s course in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offers a solid grounding in the theoretical principles as well as additional subjects that are essential for a career in the field of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. During the first four semesters, students study the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology (including Computer Science), Mathematics and Physics. From the fifth semester onwards, students choose one of the following focus areas as their thematic emphasis:

In addition to subject-specific expertise, the Bachelor’s programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology also teaches trans-disciplinary skills such as project management, languages and economics.
