Computer Engineering (DT)
The focus area Computer Engineering offers a solid but broad knowledge in the usage of computer networks, CAD-systems and industrial-oriented software development frameworks. A modern and industry-oriented education towards todays needs within information technology is offered. Specialized lectures and seminars, also in close cooperation with the department of informatics at TU Darmstadt, enable the education of software-engineering with a special focus on embedded (real-time) systems.
Fields of application
Computer Engineering is employed in wide-ranging fields of application, such as automotive systems, aerospace, medical engineering or communication industry. Numerous international cooperations of the four labs with research institutions and industry facilitate the high academic standard, but still focus the usability of the academic methods and results. Students, junior and senior researchers work in teams in an exciting academic environment, whereby results of research projects are presented at national and international workshops in order to represent the outstanding academic position of TU Darmstadt for the interested community in the respective field.
Key aspects of the curriculum
The engineering programmme “Computer Engineering” prepares to enter the exciting world of Communication Networks, Integrated Electronic Systems, Computer Systems and Software Engineering. The theoretical fundament and practical training needed for this can be obtained in lectures, labs and seminars. Specialized lectures and seminars, also in close cooperation with the department of informatics at TU Darmstadt, enable the education of software-engineering with a special focus on embedded (real-time) systems.
The Electrical and Electronics Engineer with a major in Computer Engineering is educated and trained to design, use and further develop innovative technologies in the various fields of application. In the frame of Bachelor or Master theses in one of our labs in close cooperation with ongoing research activities a deep understanding of scientific and project / teamoriented work will be achieved. A modern and industry-oriented education towards todays needs within information technology is offered.
