Numerical Analysis of Motor Eccentricity using Isogeometric Analysis
Masterarbeit
Eccentricity in electric motors results in unbalanced magnetic forces and increased vibration and noise. In practice, there is always some kind of eccentricity. Yet in simulations, this effect is usually neglected. The task of this thesis to investigate the effect of eccentricity for different motor types with Finite Element simulations. For this, a Matlab framework using Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) with predefined motor templates is given, see Figure 1. Due to the use of IGA, the eccentricity can be incorporated in a straightforward way by adjusting the control points that define the geometry. Finally, a comparison of motors with and without eccentricity should be performed to quantify its influence.
