Dr. -Ing. Christoph Haugwitz presented the paper “Air-Coupled Ultrasound-Driven Inline Quality Control of Lightweight Metal Facades.”

The presentation focused on the use of air-coupled ultrasonic testing for sandwich panels and its integration into industrial quality assurance. SMAR 2026 provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the developed measurement method with researchers in civil engineering as well as experts working directly with sandwich components and façade systems.

In addition to presenting his research, Christoph Haugwitz chaired the jury for the Mirko Roš Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the conference.

The presented work was carried out in collaboration with colleagues from the Department of Measurement and Sensor Technology, the Department of Structural Engineering at TU Darmstadt, and inoson GmbH.
