On 20 August 2026, Sven Suppelt successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Multisensory and Robotic Approaches for Mandibular Function Analysis” at Technische Universität Darmstadt.

Dr. Sven Suppelt had been a research associate at the Measurement and Sensor Technology Group since June 2021, after completing his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at TU Darmstadt in the same year. His research focused on the miniaturization and integration of force sensors, on electronics and firmware for embedded systems, and on wireless sensing.

In his work, Dr. Suppelt addressed the measurement of mandibular function under load. To this end, he developed and evaluated intraoral and extraoral measurement systems as well as robotic approaches, including a multichannel bite-force sensor for quantifying total force and left–right asymmetries, and a portable charge-measurement platform for additively manufactured, patient-specific sensing structures. His results provide more objective inputs for the diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

We would like to thank Dr. Sven Suppelt for his dedicated research work and wish him all the best and continued success in his future career and personal life!
