Forschung

My research focuses on design and development methods of task-specific haptic systems. My special interest is the consideration of properties of human haptic perception in order to reduce the requirements in the system design. Research topics are:

  • Design and evaluation methods for task-specific haptic systems,
  • Optimization of psychophyical methods to characterize human haptic perception,
  • Medical and user interface applications,
  • Miniaturized force sensors for medical and haptic applications.

Kurze Biographie

Christian Hatzfeld received his diploma in precision engineering from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, in 2008, and his doctorate degree with a dissertation about human force perception in 2013. His research interests include the design of task-specific haptic systems for medical applications, psychophysics, and systematic consideration of haptic perception in design methods. He is editor of the comprehensive handbook ”Engineering Haptic Devices” published by Springer in 2014 and was a member of the standardization committee for ergonomics of information interfaces of the German Standardization Institute (DIN) from 2013 to 2017.
