Instrumentation and system integration

We are researching novel photonic techniques and instrumentation to achieve high signal amplification, selectivity, and speed. We exploit their potential for biomedical and bioanalytical applications and explore challenging spectral ranges (e.g. UV). We perform microscopic and imaging analyses with high sub-μm resolution and enable high-throughput measurements.

Our research focuses on the design and construction of miniaturised, flexible sensor systems for use in the field and at the point of care.

  • Amplification techniques for Raman spectroscopy, based on novel micro-structured optical hollow-core fibres and optical resonators.
  • Research into UV resonance Raman spectroscopy
  • Microscopy and multimodal micro-spectroscopy
  • Raman spectroscopic chemical imaging
  • Spectrally high-resolution Raman difference spectroscopy
  • High-throughput methods and multifocal spectroscopy
